The Light of Hope
Did you read Matt Cunningham’s opinion piece in the NT News on Saturday (September 11, 2021)?
He suggests that we have developed a selfishness that would once have seemed alien to the Australian character… and he goes on to say that the less we’ve been exposed to Covid, the more selfish we’ve become.
Those are strong words… and it might seem hard to disagree.
But you and I both know that there are people all around us that know how important it is, during challenging times like this, to be there and take care of each other.
In fact, that’s why I’m writing this now.
Watch the nightly news or read the paper and you’ll soon see that many people in our community are still experiencing dark and uncertain times.
Let me give you these few examples… this week alone, there is news of more businesses closing, a hospital system that is at breaking point, and steps being taken to deal with a massive increase in mental health cases.
All of which reminds me that the light that you are shining in our city, in partnership with Darwin’s 97 Seven, is more important than ever.
Your help is needed to make sure that REAL LIFE and HOPE will continue to be available to families and individuals in Darwin and across the Top End when they need it most.
Our end-of-year SHINE THE LIGHT appeal is just over a month away… and I can’t help feeling like this appeal is one of the more important events that I’ve been involved with during my time at 97 Seven.
You probably already know that Darwin’s 97 Seven is a listener-funded non-profit station and it simply would not exist without you.
But it goes much deeper than that for me.
I can’t help thinking that it’s going to take a POWERFUL partnership between God, YOU and Darwin’s 97 Seven… if we are to see thousands of Territorians reached and impacted, and thousands of lives transformed.
The Bible says that one person can have an effect on a thousand others, but TWO working together can affect TEN thousand!!
THAT’S the POWER of partnership… the kind of partnership I’m imagining.
And that’s why I’m asking you to support the SHINE THE LIGHT appeal. Because it gives you the opportunity to strengthen that partnership, so that, together, we will continue to help people experience REAL LIFE and HOPE in Jesus.
Will you join us now?
It’ll take just a few moments from your day, but your simple act of generosity right now will be all it takes to SHINE THE LIGHT OF HOPE into someone’s life and circumstances when they need it the most.
On behalf of that person, thank you in prayerful hope.
