97 Seven is Moving… Sort of

Darwin’s 97 Seven is ON THE MOVE.

Well, our transmission equipment will be moving, at least.

We are excited to announce that Darwin’s 97 Seven entered into an agreement with BAI Corporation to relocate our transmitter and other broadcast equipment to the BAI transmission facility on Deloraine Road in Knuckeys Lagoon.

This is a significant development for the station.

Firstly, the new Deloraine Road location will cost so much less than our current facility. We’re talking about a saving of more than $400,000 over the next 15 years.

And yet, simultaneously, the new site is vastly superior to the facility we broadcast from now. The relocation will result in greater coverage of the Darwin area with reduced black spots.

Plus, we’ll be set up with standby power, allowing us to continue broadcasting even when a cyclone is bearing down on us or the city faces other emergencies that would ordinarily have taken us off the air.

That said, what excites us more than anything else is the impact this move will have on our mission.

Darwin’s 97 Seven has always been committed to introducing as many people as possible to Jesus, and the fact is that our upcoming move to Deloraine Road means that we will have the capacity to reach more people THAN EVER BEFORE with THE life-changing message of Hope in Jesus.

Of course, a project like this is not without its challenges. In particular, we’ll need to raise $97,000 by November over and above our operational expenses to cover the upfront relocation charges and the decommissioning costs at the current site.

But we have a plan, which we’ll share with you over the coming weeks.

In the meantime, please know that we are committed to making this move as smooth and incident-free as possible, ensuring that you can continue to enjoy listening to Darwin’s 97 Seven with little or no downtime.

Thank you for continuing to support Darwin’s 97 Seven. We look forward to delivering an even better listening experience from our new location.

Oh… and stay tuned for more updates on this exciting development!
